West Coast Pump Weekend
|
Welcome fellow pump players. It's been a while since WCPW'07, but the memories are still vivid in my mind. Those of you who made it to the first ever WCPW event will hopefully have similar great memories. I know from those players that I see regularly here in Victoria, the good times we shared are brought up often.
For those of you who were not at WCPW'07 or have not heard of the event, or possibly may even be new to pump (we know there are more and more of us all the time) West Coast Pump Weekend (WCPW) in its simplicity is designed to bring together pump paintball players to a common place to share good times and the passion for our game. WCPW is a two-day event, full of fun for pump players of all skill levels.
The location for WCPW is TNT Paintball, just outside of Victoria, British
Columbia. TNT Paintball is set in the middle of a typical West Coast rain
forest, but some of the playing fields are in a clearing, so there is a good
variety of terrain. TNT Paintball is run by owners Reiner and Lorne who are
avid pump players. As well, many of TNT Paintball's staff also play pump on
a regular basis. TNT Paintball is chosen by more paintball players on
Vancouver Island than any other facility. For more information and pictures
of the field check here.
Saturday will feature a fun 3-man speedball tournament. We want to emphasize the word fun. The tournament is not meant to be a high level competition of North America's best pump speedball players (although everyone is welcome to participate). There will be no prizes other than some simple plaques for the winners and runner-ups. Those that want to take part can enter as a complete 3-man team or can choose to be put on a "throw together" team. Just let us know on your registration form if you want to participate and whether you have a team made up or would like us to find you some teammates.
Those that choose not to take part in the 3-man speedball tournament are welcome to play recreational paintball on TNT Paintball's 5 themed playing fields. The number of pump players opting to play recreational paintball, will determine whether they will be playing Pump Only games or will be mixed in with one of TNT's open recreational games which would include semi players. This is for Saturday only.
Late afternoon on Saturday, after the 3-man speedball tournament is over, there will be a pump skills competition. Again, there will be emphasis on "fun". Prizes once again will be plaques recognizing the winner and runner up. There will be a timed target shoot, an obstacle course, among other events.
The day will conclude with a BBQ dinner and informal socializing. Consumption of alcoholic beverages will be allowed only after all paintball playing has ended and only by those of legal age (19 years old in British Columbia).
Sunday will consist of purely recreational pump only paintball games on all of TNT's fields. Nothing complicated. Just fun!
Lunch will be served to all players on both Saturday and Sunday and will consist of TNT's legendary all beef jumbo barbecued dogs and pop. You are on your own for breakfast.
